On Tuesday October 9, 2012 the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department visited the Ridge Elementary School. We used the Fire Prevention trailer for the students from Pre K through third grade while the upper classes were reached in the multi-purpose room. We followed the theme "Have 2 Ways Out". Students watched the DVD "Be Rabbit Ready" in the trailer and also were encouraged to get their parents involved in creating a home escape plan at home. They also practiced crawling and escaping the smoke using the escape ladder. The upper class students received similar information and observed a fellow student Jason Raley using his turn out gear to show how it effects his safety. Another student demonstrated how to draw up a home escape plan.
Members attending the event: Life members James Raley, Peggy Vallandingham, Snookie Raley, Margie Cooper, Auxiliary member Mary Wise, Associate member Frieda Franklin, Firefighters Carley Dodge and George Franklin.
