Ridge Participates in the 66th Annual Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association Convention

Ridge Volunteer Fire Department participated in the Annual Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen's Association Convention held May 4th and 5th. The 2013 Convention was hosted by the Leonardtown Rescue Squad in support of their member Shirley Copado, President 2013-2014. The Memorial Service was held May 4, 2013 at the Romuald Hall - St. Mary's Ryken High School. William "Ross" Raley and Joseph Granville Wood were honored for thier service to the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department. The dinner, meeting, and awards ceremony was held at the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department. We would like to congratulate Debbie Drury, Chief of the Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad for being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Johnny Morrison was inducted in the Hall of Fame. George Franklin recieved the W. David Gott Memorial Fire Prevention Award and Oustanding Achievement Class I Fire Prevention Award. Francis Raley recieved the Frank Cotrufo Jr. Safety Award. The parade was held May 5th on the Square in Leonardtown. Ridge sent the following units - Command 4, Jeep 4, Tanker 4, Brush 4, MSU4, Boat 4, Engine 44, Fire Prevention 4, Utility 4,and Utility 4A. Ridge recieved the following trophies - BEST APPEARING BOAT, 2nd BEST APPEARING BRUSH UNIT, 2nd BEST APPEARING TANKER 1500 Gal. and over, 2nd BEST APPEARING ENGINE 1500 GPM and over, and 2nd BEST APPEARING FIRE PREVENTION. Chief Bruce Raley thanks everyone for all thier help in making the 2013 parade such a big success. Congratulations to everyone who was recognized this year.
