Fire Prevention Week activities continued on October 11th and 12th with presentations to two local daycares. Ridge VFD educators hosted Trossbach Family Daycare at the firehouse on the 11th, and visited Curtain Climbers Daycare on the 12th. The children ranged in ages from 2-4 years old (with a few infants mixed in for good measure). All were super excited to learn about fire safety and receive goodie bags and helmets, but Sparky was the big hit! Educators and Sparky told the kids about the dangers of fire, how to stay safe in the kitchen, and how to get their parents to make an escape plan. They were also treated to fire engine tours, and they watched one of the firefighters don the gear to show them to not fear the sights and sounds of the firefighter. All the kids were left smiling and a little smarter about fire safety. It's never too early to learn fire safety!
